The motto of Ability-in-Disability Initiative is, “A Friend in Need is a Friend in Deed.” It is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit, non-sectarian charitable organization dedicated to the development of all useful hidden talents, abilities and creative powers among disabled people of all kinds, for it strongly believe that “there is ability in every disability.” The organization promotes education, sporting activities, arts and culture, rights advocacy, and the fight against disease, hunger, poverty and corruption. In particular, it facilitates inter-cultural exchange and mobilizes awareness and support for cultural diversity through poetry, drama, music, arts and culture from around the world, especially the rich and enduring tradition of the ancient Persian world.
Ability-in-Disability Initiative is an Enugu based national NGO. It is a non-partisan, non-profit, non-sectarian organization dedicated to the development of all useful hidden talents, abilities and creative powers among disabled people of all kinds; promotion of education, rights advocacy, and the fight against disease, hunger, poverty and corruption. It was incorporated in Nigeria on 14th June, 2007 and was issued with a Tax Exemption Certificate by the Federal Inland Revenue Services on 9th January, 2008. Its governance structure comprises of three organs, namely the General Meeting. This is the Supreme organ of the organization and is made up of all the members, a 3-man Board of Trustees vested with policy formulation and the Governing Council, which is in-charge of the day-to-day management of the organization. Membership of the organization is open and voluntary and at present comprises of 16 members - 8 Female and 8 Male members. Leadership roles are shared at the ratio of 1:1. | |
