Iranian-American Volunteer in Nevada Answers the Call to Service

Last week, Shahla Pfeiffer joined thousands of Americans across the country, including President Barack Obama, in the National Day of Service. A resident of Henderson, Nevada, Shahla created an event to collect clothing to distribute to shelters via www.USAService.org. Over 30 people signed up, and the donations were so overwhelming that Shahla had to borrow a truck in order to transport the clothing. The clothing was distributed to SafeNet, an organization dedicated to ending domestic violence and assisting battered women and children in need.

Shahla plans to organize another event soon and will reach out to Iranian-Americans in the area to get involved. To learn more about existing service projects taking place in your neighborhood, or to organize your own, visit www.USAService.org.
